Ahmedabad: A retired assistant taluka development officer (ATDO) died after a truck rammed his scooter from behind near Sargasan bridge in Gandhinagar on Monday evening. Sector-7 police have registered a hit-and-run case and launched a hunt for the absconding driver, who abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene.According to the FIR, the victim, Popat Lakhani was riding from Tarapur crossroads towards CH-0 Circle when the truck struck his two-wheeler, throwing him onto the road.The 68-year-old, , a resident of Kudasan who retired from a taluka panchayat in Junagadh district, suffered severe head injuries and was rushed by bystanders to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment later that night.Police recovered the abandoned truck at the spot and are tracking the driver using registration details and regional CCTV footage.
