Ahmedabad: Gujarat-based fabless semiconductor startup IndieSemiC Pvt Ltd has partnered with US-based semiconductor supplier Semtech Corporation to develop Sabarmati-1, a 64-bit RISC-V-based system-in-package (SiP) with integrated LoRa connectivity for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The announcement was made by the Union ministry of electronics and information technology in the presence of senior officials, including India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) CEO Amitesh Sinha in New Delhi.IndieSemiC founder Nikul Shah said, “The collaboration would develop the Sabarmati series of 64-bit general-purpose SiP platforms based on the RISC-V architecture with Semtech’s LoRa technology integrated for low-power, long-range wireless communication.”

CJP Jantar Mantar Protest Updates

The company said the platform combines 64-bit processing with low-power connectivity for applications such as industrial automation, smart cities, asset tracking, smart lighting, smart metering, agriculture, logistics and healthcare. The collaboration marks another step in Gujarat’s efforts to build a semiconductor design ecosystem. The state has been promoting semiconductor manufacturing and design through its Semiconductor Policy (2022-27), support from the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM), and coordination with the India Semiconductor Mission. The state govt said Gujarat has attracted investments across the semiconductor value chain, with three semiconductor manufacturing facilities entering commercial operations since the beginning of this year. It said the growth of home-grown fabless startups complements its strategy of building capabilities across semiconductor design, manufacturing, research, talent development and the supply chain.
