Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be coming to Ranip on Sunday to cast his vote due to his busy schedule, and has sent his vote through postal ballot voting option, sources said. Officials involved in the election process in Ahmedabad district said that the Prime Minister’s Office had requested the postal ballot system as the PM was unable to visit his home state for Sunday’s election.“The arrangement was made by the returning officer in keeping with the protocol and the postal ballot has also been received. All ballot votes will be opened during counting on April 28,” a source said.According to a release from the state BJP, Union minister and Gandhinagar Lok Sabha MP Amit Shah will cast his vote in the AMC election at 11am on Sunday at the Naranpura sub-zonal office. “Shah has appealed to the citizens to cast their votes and contribute to the development of state and the country,” the release said.On Saturday, CM Bhupendra Patel appealed to all citizens of the state to ensure 100% voting in the local body elections scheduled for April 26. He urged all voters across the state to participate enthusiastically in the festival of democracy.In his message to citizens, the CM stated that voting in a democracy is not merely a right, but also a sacred duty of every citizen. He said that every vote will further accelerate the holistic development of villages, talukas, districts, and cities across the state.He appealed to all voters to reach their polling booths on April 26 to cast their votes and also motivate their family members, friends, and neighbours to do the same. He called upon everyone to take a pledge for “100% voting” and make this democratic festival a success. The CM also made a heartfelt appeal to all citizens to contribute their bit towards building a developed Gujarat from a developed India by casting their vote.
