Gujarat-Japan ties strengthen as Hyogo partnership turns 10

Ahmedabad: Gujarat, and Japan’s Hyogo Prefecture, launched year-long celebrations on Wednesday to mark the 10th anniversary of their sister-state partnership. The launch was hosted by Honorary Consulate of Japan in Ahmedabad and attended by a 26-member business delegation from Hyogo, comprising representatives from Hyogo Industrial Association, Hyogo Prefectural Govt and JETRO Kobe.Mukesh Patel, honorary consul of Japan in Ahmedabad, recalled the partnership signed in 2016 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then Japanese PM, Shinzo Abe.K C Sampat, managing director, iNDEXTb, said, “Gujarat now hosts more than 350 Japanese companies, with further investments emerging in Dholera, Khoraj and Mandal, including in the semiconductor sector.” The delegation reaffirmed its commitment to expanding industrial cooperation. An anniversary logo was also unveiled.
