Ludhiana: The state GST (goods and services tax) department has registered police complaints against three local firms, accusing them of cheating and forgery.The first case was filed at the Daba police station after inspectors discovered a company had used falsified identification documents to secure an official GST registration number fraudulently.Separately, the Shimlapuri police registered two additional cases against two distinct businesses. They allege these operators used active GST profiles to submit fabricated electronic records and financial statements to evade taxes and defraud the department.Police have registered the cases under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy.
