Govt orders probe into power outage at Lok Bandhu Hosp

Lucknow: The health department on Saturday ordered an inquiry into the power failure at Lok Bandhu Hospital that allegedly forced doctors to treat patients under torchlight in the emergency ward.Director general health Dr Pawan Kumar Arun ordered the probe after a surprise inspection of the hospital. He reviewed the emergency ward’s power backup system, including generators and inverters, and sought an explanation for the failure.Calling the incident unacceptable, Dr Arun said power backup in emergency services cannot be allowed to fail. He directed the additional director (electrical) to restore the system and remove deficiencies within seven days.Dr Arun also pulled up officiating director Dr Rajesh Kumar and officiating chief medical superintendent Dr P C Tiwari, saying regular monitoring could have prevented the lapse.
