Give suggestions on parking rules for Greater Bengaluru Authority till Sept 10

Bengaluru: Karnataka govt has invited public suggestions on its draft comprehensive parking rules for Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), with stakeholders and citizens given time till Sept 10 to submit their feedback. The rules propose annual parking permit fee, ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 depending on the type of car, for parking vehicles in front of their houses. The draft includes incentives to encourage vacant sites to be converted into organised parking facilities, including 100% property tax exemption for sites used for multi-level or mechanised parking and 50% exemption for those used for surface parking. The rules also propose a fee-based parking system, with tariffs based on factors such as road classification and location of parking facilities. Monthly passes will be available for regular off-street parking users.On-street parking will be prohibited on highly congested arterial roads and could be restricted during peak hours on major stretches. Parking will be prohibited around designated multi-level car parking facilities, while longer parking durations will attract higher charges. The draft proposes stronger enforcement against building owners who fail to provide parking mandated under building regulations or misuse designated parking spaces for other purposes.Suggestions can be emailed to acsuddoffice@gmail.com or submitted to additional chief secretary, urban development department, Vikasa Soudha, by Sept 10.
