Ghaziabad: A 26-year-old man was arrested in Masuri on Friday for allegedly murdering his elder brother to get a tractor transferred to his name.Police said a security guard at the PWD executive engineer’s office in Adhyatmik Nagar, Masuri, informed the cops that a body of a man had been found in the bushes next to the office. A blood-stained stone had been placed on his chest. A police team reached the spot and took the body into custody. The body was unidentifiable as there were injury marks and blood all over his face.ACP Masuri Sunil Kumar said it was evident from the initial investigation that the murderer had tried to destroy the facial features of the man by repeatedly bashing his face with the stone and then dumped the body in the bushes. He added that teams made efforts to identify the man, but there were no missing complaints that matched the description of the deceased. An FIR was registered against an unidentified person under BNS section 103 for murder based on the complaint of the Garden Enclave chowki in charge sub -inspector Prem Singh. Police formed three teams and they scanned through hours of CCTV footage, conducted patrol searches and even distributed photo pamphlets. On July 30, they finally identified the deceased as Muradnagar resident Monu Singh (42). “When we started looking into his background, the name of his younger brother Sukhvir Singh (26) came up,” the ACP said.As there was circumstantial evidence tying Sukhvir to the murder, he was arrested on Friday. He allegedly told the cops that he had murdered his elder brother for the tractor Monu had bought on loan in Feb this year. Monu and Sukhvir used to farm together on their 2-bigha land. They had put together Rs 2 lakh as a down payment to buy the tractor. A couple more instalments of the loan were left when Sukhvir started to pressure Monu to transfer the tractor in his name, but when Monu refused, Sukhvir decided to kill him.On the night of July 25, he took his brother out to drink. When they were returning home, Sukhvir pushed Monu into a pit on Akash Nagar Road next to the bushes where his body was discovered. He then smashed his face with the stone and left it on his chest before running away.Sukhvir has been sent to judicial custody after being produced in court.
