Chennai: ZEISS, a German manufacturer of optical systems and optoelectronics, launched an innovation hub at IIT Madras Research Park (IITMRP), Chennai.The centre will focus on advanced frugal engineering, harsh-environment optics, robotics and fluid dynamics, while promoting interdisciplinary research with real-world industrial applications, the company said in a release on Thursday. The hub will foster collaboration to advance research, validate new ideas, and translate them into scalable solutions, it said.The hub will strengthen collaboration between ZEISS’ global research network and the IIT Madras ecosystem, bringing together faculty, researchers, startups and industry and will also support researcher exchanges, postgraduate research and closer engagement with IIT Madras students and graduates.Andreas Pecher, president and chief executive of the ZEISS Group, said, “The hub reflects our confidence in the country’s evolving innovation ecosystem and its growing significance as a strategic market.
