Ahmedabad: Following Thursday’s heavy downpour that plunged temperatures to a cool 27°C — six degrees below normal — Ahmedabad is bracing for another spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).Thursday’s soaking weather kept relative humidity well above 90% throughout the day, while the minimum temperature settled at 24.8°C (1.1°C below normal).According to the IMD forecast, heavy to very heavy — at times extremely heavy — rainfall is expected in parts of Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar.Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in parts of Sabarkantha Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, and Surendranagar.Heavy rains are very likely in Banaskantha, Vav-Tharad, Patan, Mehsana, Narmada, Dang and Tapi along with Amreli, Bhavnagar and Botad in Saurashtra region. Other districts will experience light thunderstorm with lightning and surface gusty wind, added the forecast.

On Saturday, the rain intensity is likely to reduce a bit with heavy to very heavy rain in Sabarkantha and Aravalli, heavy rain in parts of Banaskantha, Vav-Tharad, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar and Botad. Other districts may experience light thunderstorm.
