Fresh spell of showers from today: IMD

Lucknow: While cloudy skies, cool winds and light drizzle in several parts of the city brought a slight relief from humid weather on Tuesday, India Meteorological Department forecast a fresh spell of monsoon showers in the state including Lucknow from Wednesday.On Tuesday, maximum temperature settled at 34.4 degrees Celsius, marginally below normal, while minimum was 29.8 degrees Celsius, 3.8 degrees above normal. Humidity remained high, ranging between 64% and 83%. IMD forecast a generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain or thundershowers on Wednesday.Senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mohammad Danish, said, “A low-pressure area over eastern Madhya Pradesh has strengthened monsoon activity across UP. Light to moderate rain accompanied by strong winds is likely in many parts of the state over the next three days. Rain activity is also expected to increase in the coming days in Lucknow and nearby areas.”Across the state, highest rainfall on Tuesday was recorded at Robertsganj with 70 mm, followed by Lalitpur 69 mm, Prayagraj 58 mm and Sonbhadra at 50.8 mm.
