Fraudster dupes woman in credit card con
Police sources said that what began as a fraud of Rs 44,500 has now turned into a debt of Rs 80,000, including accumulated interest, for the woman, Parminder Kaur of Chhajawal village in Jagraon area

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana rural police have booked former employee of a private bank in Jagraon for allegedly duping a woman on the pretext of blocking her credit card.Police sources said that what began as a fraud of Rs 44,500 has now turned into a debt of Rs 80,000, including accumulated interest, for the woman, Parminder Kaur of Chhajawal village in Jagraon area.The complainant told the cops that she had gone to the bank to get her credit card closed. She added that the accused, Lovepreet Singh of Baba Jeevan Singh Patti in New Ramuwala who worked as a credit card officer, told her that he would close her card.The complainant said that the accused told her that, for that she would have to share the OTP received on her phone with him. She added that on this pretext, the accused deceived her and took her mobile phone.As per the complainant, instead of closing her credit card, the accused changed the email ID and mobile number linked to the card and linked his own email ID and mobile number to the account. She added that thereafter, on Aug 15, 2024, he fraudulently withdrew Rs 44,500 from her credit card.The complainant said that she came to know about the fraud when on June 1, 2026, she spoke with the manager of the bank. She added that the manager informed her that since the amount of Rs 44,500 withdrawn from her credit card was not repaid on time, the outstanding dues, including interest, had now risen to Rs 80,000.The complainant told cops that it also came to her knowledge that the accused had allegedly cheated several other people through similar credit card-related frauds.Based on her complaint, cybercrime police has registered a case against the accused.
