Ahmedabad: A youth was seriously injured in an alleged knife attack by four men in Gomtipur early on Saturday. The assault, captured on CCTV cameras, is believed to have been triggered by an old rivalry in which the victim had set ablaze a horse carriage belonging to the accused.According to the complaint registered with Gomtipur police, the victim was returning home on a scooter from Sabarmati Riverfront with two friends. The three were headed towards their homes when they noticed the accused following them. Expecting trouble, the complainant changed his route and headed towards a temple in Gomtipur village. The assailants closed in and attacked the complainant from their moving vehicle. As the complainant fell off his scooter, the assailants stabbed him repeatedly, inflicting injuries on his shoulder, back, arm, knee and head. One of the attackers allegedly called it an act of revenge.The attackers fled as locals came to the complainant’s rescue. He was admitted to Civil Hospital.The complainant had allegedly been attacked earlier too by the accused over their suspicion that he was behind police checks on their vehicle. To get back, the complainant set their horse carriage alight, which led to the stabbing, police said.Gomtipur police inspector D V Rana said that all four accused have been arrested.
