Ludhiana: A youth was injured after a father and son allegedly opened fire at him outside a salon at Bilga village in Sahnewal on Wednesday. The accused allegedly fired three shots at Talwinder Singh, with one bullet hitting his left shoulder, before escaping on a motorcycle.According to the complaint, Talwinder had gone to a hairdresser in his village on Aug 19. As he stepped out of the salon, Pawandeep Singh Pawan and his father, Pradhan Singh, allegedly arrived on a motorcycle, pulled out a pistol and fired three shots at him. He added that one of the bullets struck his left shoulder.Hearing the gunshots, local residents and shopkeepers rushed to the spot.The complainant said that on seeing people gather, the accused brandished the weapon and escaped.Local residents rushed Talwinder to a nearby hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.Police subsequently registered a case against Pawandeep and his father, Pradhan, under sections pertaining to attempt to murder and the Arms Act.Police sources said raids were being conducted at suspected hideouts of the accused and efforts were on to arrest them. They added that the motive behind the crime was being ascertained.In line of fireCases of shooting after petty disputes have become increasingly common in Ludhiana. In Jan this year, three youths allegedly fired at a garment shop in Haibowal after its owner refused a Rs 50 lakh extortion demand. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the foot in a dispute of around Rs 10,000. In March, a man was injured in firing near his house in Fauji Colony, allegedly despite having earlier complained of threats. In June, four members of a family were injured in a targeted shooting linked to a Rs 10,000 debt and a social media feud. Two shots were also fired during a dispute over a Rs 90 bar bill.
