Chennai: Representatives of farmers’ organisations on Saturday thanked DMK leader and Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin for continuing to raise the Cauvery water dispute and the Mekedatu issue both inside and outside the state assembly.A delegation led by Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Associations Joint Movement president T Deivasigamani met Udhayanidhi at his Chennai residence. They thanked him for organising the DMK’s protest in Thanjavur and raising farmers’ concerns in the assembly. The delegation urged him to mount pressure on the TVK govt, declare the Cauvery delta a drought-hit region and waive crop loans in full, according to a press release. Udhayanidhi assured the representatives that the DMK would continue to stand by farmers and raise their concerns.
