Pune: A gang of five men allegedly attempted to rob a businessman of Rs 1 crore by intercepting his car and trying to snatch the bags with the cash on Saturday. The Narhe police registered a case against all five and have launched an investigation after a complaint was filed.Police investigations show that the conspiracy was allegedly hatched by the businessman’s car driver with two friends and two others. All five are absconding.The complainant, a resident of Talegaon Dabhade, was travelling to a private bank’s Narhe branch via Sinhagad Road between 1pm and 2pm on July 18, accompanied by his driver, the prime suspect, and another associate. When the car reached Navale Bridge area, two men on a motorcycle intercepted the vehicle. One of them identified himself as a police officer and claimed that the occupants were transporting illegal cash.Police said that the suspects then opened the car doors and attempted to grab the two bags but fled the spot when they failed.
