Kolkata: Kolkata Police have busted a fake call centre operating a fraudulent online dating club out of Kasba. Detectives are now probing the interstate link between the eight persons arrested during Monday’s raid, with a pan-India cyber syndicate recently dismantled by the Delhi Police, where the accused also ran fake spiritual gangs.The crackdown follows a probe by the Delhi Police Cyber Cell, which exposed a racket run by two 21-year-old men from Rajasthan, who were apprehended in Mohali, Punjab.The duo created fake profiles of women on Instagram and Facebook. They lured emotionally vulnerable individuals by posting fabricated success stories claiming a “powerful spiritual healer” could fix personal, marital, and family crises. Once contacted, the fraudsters shifted victims to WhatsApp, manipulating them into revealing personal problems before demanding money in installments for expensive poojas, remedies, and materials.The scam came to light through a BNS e-FIR after a victim was swindled out of Rs 2.5 lakh. Investigators revealed the gang operated under the banner “All Problems Solutions,” duping over 2,000 citizens nationwide—a fraudulent blueprint Kolkata investigators suspect was actively mirrored by the Kasba operators.
