Bengaluru: With the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) entering its final stage, the Election Commission (EC) has begun a statewide exercise to help voters wrongly classified under the ASDDO category get their records corrected before the electoral rolls are finalised.Election officials have urged citizens to verify whether they have been marked as ASDDO, which stands for absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and others. Voters who find themselves wrongly categorised have been asked to immediately approach their booth level officer (BLO) to have their enumeration forms corrected. “Only those who sign and submit the forms will be included in the draft list,” chief electoral officer Anbu Kumar said Wednesday.The correction drive assumes significance as 1.1 crore voters, or 20% of Karnataka’s electorate, have been placed in the ASDDO category. The situation is more pronounced in the Greater Bengaluru area, where 49.4 lakh voters, or 47.5% of the electorate, have been flagged under the category.To facilitate verification, the Election Commission has uploaded constituency-wise ASDDO lists on the Karnataka chief electoral officer’s website. Scanned voter lists are available booth-wise, although voters will have to manually locate their names as the documents do not support a search function. The lists are also available with BLOs and booth-level agents (BLAs) of recognised political parties.Officials said the digitisation of enumeration forms is nearing completion, with just over 17 lakh forms yet to be uploaded. At the current pace of 11.9 lakh forms a day, the exercise is expected to be completed within a couple of days.The commission also clarified that the voters who fail to submit their enumeration forms by Aug 8 will still have an opportunity to be included in the final electoral roll. “Those who are marked shifted and absent because they were not present at the address listed in the 2026 electoral roll data can fill Form 6,” Kumar said.New voters turning 18 years by Oct 1, 2026, are also eligible to apply through Form 6, while non-resident Indians may use Form 6A to retain their enrolment in Karnataka.According to the commission, 3.7 lakh Form-6 applications have already been received. Applications submitted before Sep 16, the deadline for claims and objections, will be verified by BLOs before the final electoral rolls are published.“Those who are ordinary residents of Karnataka and have not enrolled in other places may apply for inclusion in the rolls via Form 6,” Kumar said. He added that the forms are available both online and through the respective BLOs.
