Bengaluru: A week after a fatal accident in Bidadi involving a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus, a second bus survived another mishap along the same stretch of Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway. The Kerala bus, coming from Kasaragod, encountered an egg attack while it was crossing Bidadi around 9.30pm Wednesday.The bus driver stopped the vehicle as there was no visibility through the windowpanes as egg white blocked his vision. Following the incident, the driver filed a complaint with Bidadi police station. “We are taking legal advice before proceeding with the FIR,” a cop said.Local activists claim that egg-throwing at Kerala buses is “not an isolated incident,” with those who visited the fatal accident site claiming there were remains of egg shells along the wreckage.Karnataka police have denied any link between egg-throwing and the Kerala bus accident that left a driver and a conductor dead last week.In a petition to Karnataka’s home and transport ministers, Shihab Thangal Centre For Humanity, a city-based NGO, stated that a series of alarming criminal activities had occurred on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway, specifically targeting Kerala buses. “It is deeply concerning that this incident occurred in the same vicinity where a fatal accident involving a KSRTC bus recently resulted in the loss of lives of a driver and a conductor. We fear that these deliberate acts may be part of a larger criminal strategy,” MK Noushad, general secretary of the organisation, said.Kerala transport minister CP John stated that a probe has been ordered to find out the cause of the egg hurling.
