Gurgaon: Two labourers died days after a dumper ran over them while they were sleeping on the roadside outside a construction site in Faridabad.The two brothers — Badal Manjhi (22) and Karan Kumar (23) — died at BK Hospital on Saturday, four days after they suffered leg injuries in the incident that took place in Sector 65 on Tuesday night.A police officer said, “We have registered a case against the unidentified dumper driver on a contractor’s complaint. An autopsy is being conducted.”Police identified the deceased through their Aadhaar cards. Originally, the residents of Bihar’s Munger district, the duo had been working with the contractor in the city for about 10-15 days.According to police, contractor Sanjay Yadav, a resident of Uncha Gaon, was carrying out soil-filling work at his construction site.On Aug 25, the two labourers settled their accounts with the contractor and left the site.However, the following night, they returned to the area and slept in front of the plot.“Around the same time, a dumper loaded with soil arrived at the construction site. The driver was moving the vehicle back and forth while manoeuvring it to unload the soil when the men came under its wheels,” an officer said.Badal managed to call Yadav to inform him about the accident. The contractor reached the spot and rushed them to BK Hospital, where doctors referred them to AIIMS Trauma Centre in Delhi. However, they could not be admitted there and were brought back to BK Hospital, where both died.Police are examining the CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
