Gurgaon: The city administration will continue its crackdown on encroachments and unauthorised construction “”in strict compliance” with the court directions.Town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia said on Thursday, the action is not against any particular individual, but to ensure compliance with rules and protect public interest. The administration’s priority was to ensure that residents had “adequate space” for movement and that public infrastructure was not taken over for private use.“The authorities, under the guidance of deputy commissioner, are ensuring 100% compliance with the directions of Punjab and Haryana high court and Supreme Court. The enforcement drive was aimed at removing encroachments from public land, roads, passages and other public spaces, while also acting against buildings constructed without approval or in violation of sanctioned plans,” he said.The enforcement wing has also put the misuse of stilt parking under scrutiny. Madholia said stilt floors were meant exclusively for vehicle parking and could not be converted into rooms, PG accommodation, guesthouses, shops or other commercial establishments. The cases involving illegal construction or conversion of stilt areas were being examined, he said, adding, “Where violations were established, the department would undertake sealing, demolition and other action as prescribed under the rules.”Construction carried out without permission or contrary to approved building plans would also face action, the official said.The crackdown comes amid growing concerns over unauthorised construction, obstruction of roads and misuse of common areas in Gurgaon.Madholia appealed to residents and property owners not to encroach upon public land or parking areas and to refrain from carrying out construction in violation of approved plans. He also urged citizens to inform the authorities about illegal construction and encroachments.Officials said enforcement would be carried out on the basis of violations identified during inspections and complaints received by the department.
