Drunk man stabbed to death by elder brother in Osmanpura

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death by his elder brother in Osmanpura under Chaderghat police station limits on Wednesday.The deceased has been identified as Safdar Hussain, son of late Hyder Hussain, a labourer from Osmanpura.Safdar was a labourer at a lassi-making unit in Moinabad. Chaderghat police have reportedly taken the accused, Hashim Hussain alias Aslam Hussain, 26, into custody. Hashim works at a garments store in Patherghatti.According to police, Safdar and Hashim live at the same residence.As per the preliminary investigation, Safdar had been consuming alcohol daily for the past six months. “Due to his addiction, Safdar was harassing his mother and other family members for money. He had multiple arguments with Hashim, who warned him several times to mend his ways,” said Chaderghat inspector K Brahma Murari.The incident took place at about 5.30 am when Safdar returned home drunk. He picked up an argument with the family members.“During the argument, Hashim attacked Safdar in a fit of rage, stabbing him in the throat. With a severe bleeding injury, Safdar died on the spot in front of his house,” the inspector said.After receiving information from the locals, police rushed to the spot. Clues team was summoned to the scene for collection of evidence. The body of the victim was sent to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy. A case was registered under Section 103 (1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on the complaint of the victim’s family. The accused was reportedly taken into custody by the police near his house shortly after the incident.
