Driver sneaks away with Mercedes in Gurgaon and crashes it

Gurgaon: An FIR was registered on Friday against the driver of a business executive for taking a Mercedes-Benz car for a drive without permission, crashing it while speeding and then trying to get it repaired quietly before the owners learnt of the damage, police said.According to the complaint filed at Sector 53 police station, the driver, Anuj, was employed by Amit Kapoor, a resident of The Verandas Society in Sector 54. Police said the Mercedes-Benz E220D, bearing registration number HR06AQ3064 and vehicle belonging to Park Non Woven Private Limited, had been provided to Kapoor for his personal use.Puneet Pipli, an authorised representative of the company, filed the complaint. He told police that on May 14, around 6.30pm, Anuj had allegedly taken the Mercedes-Benz from the parking area of Kapoor’s society. He drove the vehicle at high speed late at night and crashed it, damaging the left side of the bonnet. He did not inform anyone about the accident and purportedly took the car to a mechanic named Sagar on May 15.Police said Sagar knew Kapoor and informed him about the damaged vehicle.
