Driver dies after auto crashes into SUV in Gurgaon
A 19-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was killed as an SUV rammed into the auto

Gurgaon: A 19-year-old auto-rickshaw driver died after an allegedly speeding Toyota Innova Crysta car rammed his three-wheeler head-on near Elan Miracle Mall on Wednesday morning.The deceased, Ankesh, a native of Jhaua village in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district, was living with his uncle, Sanjesh Kumar, in Dhokra village here. He earned his livelihood by driving an auto-rickshaw.According to the complaint filed by Sanjesh Kumar, the accident took place at around 7.30 am on July 8 when Ankesh was driving from Dadi Sati Chowk in Sector 86 towards Sector 83. As he reached the intersection near the said mall, a car allegedly approached at high speed and collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw.Both the vehicles were severely damaged; Ankesh sustained grievous injuries in the collision. Mainpal Singh, the Innova driver, took him to Arvi Hospital, Sector 90. While the accused met Sanjesh, he allegedly soon left the hospital.Given the high cost of treatment in a private hospital, Sanjesh shifted Ankesh from Arvi Hospital to Govt Hospital, Sector 10, Gurgaon, for further treatment. However, Ankesh succumbed to his injuries on the way, and doctors at the Govt Hospital declared him brought dead.Police initially received information from Arvi Hospital about the accident, following which, Head Constable Sanjeet Kumar reached the hospital. At the hospital, the doctor informed him that the patient ‘left against medical advice’ (LAMA) as he was shifted from the hospital. Later, police received a brought-dead intimation from Govt Hospital, Sector 10, stating that Ankesh died due to injuries suffered in the road accident.The body was shifted to the local mortuary and handed to the family on Thursday after the autopsy. “He was the eldest among three siblings. The family is in deep shock over his demise,” Sanjesh told TOI.Sanjesh filed a complaint against the car driver for driving negligently at a high speed, causing a forceful head-on collision. Kherki Daula Police Station registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.ASI Ashok Kumar said that the accused would be arrested soon.
