Guwahati: Ambubachi Mela at the Kamakhya temple does not just attract sadhus and aghoris; it also attracts many seeking a spiritual recharge that can guide them on the right path. Gujarati folk star Dev Pagli, known for blending traditional melodies with modern beats, is of the second kind.Pagli returns to the Shakti Peeth every year and spends about 10 days at the shrine meditating and joining rituals with sadhus and naga babas before resuming work.He told TOI, “I come here for 10 days during the Ambubachi mela every year to recharge myself spiritually. Maa is the supreme power. Nothing can be imagined without her blessings. Whatever I have achieved till date as a singer is just because of the blessings of Maa Kamakhya.”Pagli said he has recorded about 3,000-4,000 songs in Hindi and Gujarati. “Coming here, staying with the saints and sages, learning religious things from them and receiving blessings from them are big things for me,” he added, saying he has been attending Ambubachi at Kamakhya for the past three to four years. However, he voiced concern over rising disturbances at the temple during Ambubachi Mahayog due to swelling crowds. “During Ambubachi, the Goddess should not be disturbed. Many people just come here during Ambubachi to show off. They come here, take photos and post on social media. They keep devotion in the second position. That should not happen,” he said.Pagli also spoke about singer Zubeen Garg. “Zubeen was a very big singer. He was the pride and glory of Assam. His untimely demise has saddened me,” he added.
