Guwahati: A doctor working at a private hospital in the city was found dead on Wednesday, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.The deceased was identified as Prayash Singhal, an ICU physician. Hospital authorities said he was found in an ICU room on the second floor of the hospital’s building.A police officer from Bhangagarh PS said a probe had begun and that an unnatural death case had been registered.Police and CID personnel visited the hospital after being informed of the death. The officer said Singhal’s co-workers were questioned as part of the investigation.Hospital authorities said Singhal had been on duty during the night shift and was found dead the following morning.His body was sent to Gauhati Medical College for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.Hospital authorities said they would extend cooperation to police during the investigation.
