Chennai: Two months after CPI walked out of the DMK alliance, leader of opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin and CPI state secretary M Veerapandian said Dravidian outfits and Left parties would join hands to fight whenever Tamil Nadu’s rights face a threat.Udhayanidhi and CPI state secretary Veerapandian shared the stage at an event organised by Udhavum Kaigal, an NGO to unveil the bust of former CPI leader R Nallakannu at Washermanpet in Chennai. This was the first meeting where DMK and CPI leaders shared stage after the Left party exited DMK front.Speaking at the event, Udhayanidhi said whenever there was a threat to Tamils, both DMK and left parties will join hands. “Veerapandian always displays a warm camaraderie. Whenever there is a threat to the Tamil language, rights of Tamils and Tamil Nadu, DMK and left parties will join hands and will fight for the rights,” Udhayanidhi said.Making a veiled attack on TVK, Udhayanidhi said society is celebrating people who are producing reels and are famous on Instagram but had deserted those who are working for the people on the ground.Veerapandian said left parties were always ready to fight for the people alongside DMK. Speaking to reporters, Veerapandian said there is nothing wrong in supporting TVK govt and at the same time sharing the stage with DMK leaders.“We have already clarified that we are not part of any alliance. We support TVK govt from the outside and we extended support only to prevent President’s rule. Despite having a difference of opinion, we see DMK, AIADMK and TVK as democratic forces. Our political enemies are BJP and RSS. We oppose them only ideologically and want to defeat them ideologically,” Veerapandian said.
