Ahmedabad: A city sessions court on Tuesday rejected regular bail for Anand resident additional collector Ketki Vyas, who was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a disproportionate assets case involving properties worth Rs 3.6 crore allegedly beyond her known sources of income.Vyas was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly misusing her position as a public servant and acquiring movable and immovable properties through illegal means between April 2012 and March 2023, when she served as RAC at Anand. The court rejected Vyas’s contention seeking to justify her investments and income, observing that the documents produced by her were not authentic as they were neither signed by her nor by any chartered accountant. After perusing the police papers, the court said, “It appears that huge amount is involved in the alleged offence and as per affidavit of investigating officer, the presence of applicant-accused is necessary for the just and appropriate investigation in the present case on hand…Interrogation of applicant-accused is necessary for seeking information about properties purchased by the applicant in her name and her relatives’ name at various places and also seeking explanation about entries in the bank statements of applicant.”The court noted that the investigation was at a crucial stage and chargesheet was yet to be filed.
