Jaipur: Cheered on by the home crowd, Dholpur shocked formidable Udaipur to clinch the maiden title of the Rajasthan State Junior Girls Football Championship at Tasimo Football Ground in Dholpur on Tuesday.The three-day tournament was organised by the Dholpur District Football Association under the auspices of Rajasthan Football Association.After a barren regulation period, penalty shoot-out was introduced. Both teams ended 2-2 after the tie-breaker. The deadlock was finally broken in sudden-death when the hosts kept their nerves to emerge champions 1-0.

The Dholpur District Football Association president Gurmeet Maan said that in the thrilling final between Dholpur and Udaipur, neither team could score a goal till the last minute. After this, the score of both the teams remained 2-2 in the penalty shoot-out and Dholpur won the title by defeating Udaipur 1-0 in the sudden death after penalty shoot-out.Ajmer defeated Bikaner and secured the third position in the competition.Rajasthan Football Association secretary Dilip Singh Shekhawat said that two-three years ago, no girls of the Dholpur team used to play football. With the hard work of association president Gurmeet Maan, by bringing the children to the ground and organising the district league, Dholpur won the Rajasthan Junior Girls Championship on Tuesday. A Zinc Girls Football Academy is running in Zawar Mines of Udaipur, which was the runner-up. Talented players from Rajasthan are staying there and getting training. In future, many girls from this academy will represent Rajasthan.The chief guests at the closing ceremony were Dr Renu Nikhil Agarwal, Priya Tyagi, Mahendra Singh Parmar.On this occasion, Rajasthan Football Association’s supervisor Rafiq Sindhi, Zinc Academy selectors, former India player Tarun Rai, Chandrakala Rai, coach Aslam Khan, Dholpur secretary Sandeep Rana, referee Gopal Bhupendra Parmar, Geetam Parmar, Puneet Sangeeta Parashar, Dharamveer Singh, medical team in-charge Gaurav Singh and Rahul Tyagi were present.
