Chandigarh: Questioning govt’s notification on 8% hike in dearness allowance (DA), Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Wednesday alleged that “the official letter issued in this regard is nothing more than a betrayal of the employees”.In a written statement, Dhillon said two questions arose from the wording of the letter, to which Punjab govt had provided no answers. “The first question is that the letter makes no mention of the dates or payment of the pending 4-4 per cent DA instalments that have been due for some time. The letter only states that DA will be provided from Sept 2026. The second question is the letter also contains no clear decision or mention regarding the previous DA arrears,” he said.He alleged that the state govt’s letter was nothing more than an attempt to undermine the legal battle won by employees in court over DA. “This is how the Bhagwant Mann govt has treated every section of Punjab,” he said.He added if BJP formed a govt in Punjab in 2027, the DA will be released.Ends
