New Delhi: An associate of the Nasir-Shahrukh gang and a proclaimed offender wanted in a 2022 gang rivalry murder case has been arrested by Delhi Police crime branch from a hotel in Ahmedabad, where he was staying under a false identity.According to police, Sumit Gupta was booked in a case at Ambedkar Nagar police station under sections relating to murder. attempted murder and the Arms Act. The case pertains to a violent clash between rival gangs on the night of May 27, 2022, during which gunfire broke out in Madangir.“Two persons, Rohit, 29, and Gulshan, 28, sustained gunshot injuries. Rohit later succumbed to his injuries.” DCP (crime) Chandra Kumar Singh said.Gupta, who was arrested in the case, was granted interim bail in 2024 but allegedly disappeared after the bail period ended. He was declared a proclaimed offender by a Saket court on May 26 last year.Gupta was produced before a competent court and remanded to judicial custody, police said.
