Aizawl: A Delhi-based group of Myanmar nationals, calling itself ‘India for Myanmar’, has urged the United League of Arakan (ULA) and its armed wing, the Arakan Army (AA), to investigate the torching of a duty post of the Mara Thyutlia Py (MTP) at Khaikhy village in Mizoram’s Siaha district and bring those responsible to justice.The incident allegedly took place on Monday and involved suspected Rakhine merchants.“We call upon the ULA/AA to urgently investigate the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, ensure full compensation for the aggrieved parties, and extend an official apology to the people of Mizoram,” a statement issued by the group said on Wednesday.According to the group, the incident arose from dissatisfaction among Rakhine merchants over delays in the movement of goods due to transportation difficulties during the rainy season. The volunteers reportedly escaped unharmed, while the post was set on fire and destroyed. Local residents intervened to prevent the fire from spreading.The group condemned the incident as an act of arson. It also urged Myanmar nationals in India to respect local laws and regulations.
