Colva: The South Goa sessions court granted bail to Sushant Shirodkar, who was arrested for allegedly attempting to kill a woman and also seriously injuring her 66-year-old father at Vollant in Cortalim in April.Sushant allegedly attacked Shital Palekar (34) with a knife and her father, Gokuldas, when he tried to intervene.While granting bail to Shirodkar, the court observed that two mandatory legal requirements relating to the arrest had not been followed by the police, rendering the arrest illegal.The court noted that no arrest memorandum was available on record and that the arrest panchanama did not bear the signature of any family member or a respectable member of the locality. The judge observed that non-compliance with these mandatory provisions directly affected the legality of the arrest.
