Mumbai: While rejecting the bail pleas on Thursday of two Nesco Exhibition Centre employees, Sunny Jain and Balakrishnan Kurup, in the drug overdose deaths case, a court said the organisers were prima facie responsible for negligence and the mishap that occurred at the concert in April.Saying they failed to ensure no drug or liquor was allowed to pass through and be used by concertgoers, special judge U C Deshmukh said, “This is an example of poor management of an event. It may be intentional, negligent or done under the greed of money.”Denying relief to another accused, Raunak Khandelwal, the judge said, “…the victim specifically said [he] gave a yellow ecstasy tablet to her as well as to the deceased.”While rejecting the bail application of Pratik Pandey, an alleged drug supplier, the court said he tried to exploit the chaos that emerged at the event due to mismanagement.A fifth accused in the case, Akash Samal, was granted bail on the grounds that he was responsible for only booking artists. The detailed orders were made available on Friday.
