Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Thursday disposed of minister Arjun Singh’s petition challenging 10 FIRs filed during the TMC govt after Barrackpore Police described the cases as “mistake of facts”.Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya had sought a police report on whether the cases would continue following the change of political party in govt after May 4. The state advocate informed the court on Thursday that police had filed a Final Report Mistake of Fact (FRMF) before the lower court. An FRMF is a closure report submitted to a magistrate when a probe finds that the facts differ from those stated in the complaint, indicating that no criminal offence could be established. The HC had granted Singh interim protection from coercive action on Oct 14, 2025, observing that the dispute prima facie appeared political. The protection was extended from time to time. The 10 complaints were filed on Sept 10, 2025, at multiple police stations under Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.
