Gurgaon: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was injured in an accident even as bystanders watched while his call to the emergency helpline failed to connect. The incident took place near Ambience Mall on Sunday morning. For around 15 minutes, no help came to the ASI as he was left in pain on the roadside. Deshraj was on his way to duty at the Rapid Metro control room at Moulsari Avenue metro station when the accident took place around 6am.According to his complaint, he was riding his scooter from his home in Rajokri towards rapid metro depot-1 when a speeding motorcycle approached from behind and allegedly hit him.Based on Deshraj’s statement, a case was registered under sections 125(a) and 281 of the BNS at DLF Phase 3 police station. Deshraj, who received a fracture above his left ankle, was later admitted to the hospital.“I was just about to turn from the service road ahead of Ambience Mall onto Moulsari Road, DLF-3, when the motorcycle from behind came at high speed and overtook me wrongly from my left side. He was moving ahead of me to the right side and knocked me down,” the complaint said. Deshraj told TOI that the rider appeared to be part of a biking group that gathers for Sunday rides. The motorcyclist briefly returned to the spot after the crash, allowing Deshraj to note down the registration number of the motorcycle. “The motorcyclist came to me but left the spot. I took a photograph of his motorcycle number,” he said.Despite a crowd gathering at the scene, no one helped him reach the hospital, he alleged. “I called emergency helpline number 112, but the call was not received. I gave the information of the accident to my metro control room and a crowd gathered there, but no one took me to the hospital. I then called and summoned my colleague ASI Satinder Singh, who reached the spot and admitted me to Kalyani Hospital,” he added.
