Hyderabad: Four days after burglars stole over 1 kg of gold from the office of a Gujarat-based ornament manufacturing firm on Banjara Hills Road No. 10, task force sleuths on Wednesday arrested two persons, including an employee of the company. The arrested were identified as Sonkamble Harish, a sales executive at Guru Krupa Exports Pvt Ltd, and his brother Akash, an office boy at a private company in Madhapur. Police recovered the entire stolen property weighing 1.28 kg from their house in Mangalhat.“Harish hatched the burglary plan as he was in financial distress. He had recently got married and was constructing a house in Mangalhat. In need of money, he decided to steal the gold from his office and took his brother into confidence,’’ deputy commissioner of Police (Task Force) Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath said. Police officials said the accused conducted a recce and initially planned to break into the office on the night of July 16 night to steal the valuables stored in the locker.“However, they deferred the plan to the following night after getting scared. Before leaving, they loosened the window grill to facilitate entry later. On the night of July 17, Harish switched off the power supply, entered the office through the window, accessed the locker, and stole 1.28 kg of gold ornaments,” police said.Harish planned to commit the offence when his manager was out of station. “Like the other employees, he left the office on July 17 but deliberately kept the locker unlocked. Later that night, he returned, switched off the power supply, entered the office, and committed the theft. He then handed over the stolen gold to his brother Akash, who took it to their residence. During the investigation, police questioned Harish, along with other employees of the firm.While examining the CCTV footage, police noticed suspicious movements by the duo at the office a day before the burglary. They also found that Harish had been in frequent contact with his brother around the time he visited the washroom, raising suspicion. Both the accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial remand.
