Bengaluru: Halasuru police, investigating the deaths of two foreign nationals in Conrad hotel’s swimming pool, are waiting for official communication from the Embassy of Slovak Republic to conduct the autopsy and hand over the body to the family members and consulate general concerned.Slovak national Juraj Horvat (45), a project manager with IBM, is suspected to have died of electrocution in the swimming pool on Oct 30. Horvat had come to India along with his wife, Silvia Hotuatova, and was staying at the hotel.A senior officer said, “We’ve already completed the procedures for the post-mortem of German national Alexander Maximilian Theiss, 57, a Lufthansa crew member, as communicated by the German consulate. With respect to Horvat’s PM, embassy officials have informed us that his wife, Silvia, has communicated to them that she is in touch with the insurance company officials in their country. Once they get the required information, they will inform us to go ahead with further procedures.”“We expected the procedure to be completed Tuesday, but since we did not receive any communication from the embassy officials, we are waiting. We are expecting it Wednesday,” the officer added.Another officer said, “Though it appears that the deaths were due to electrocution in the swimming pool, we are waiting for the report from electrical inspectors. Once we receive it, officials will conclude the investigation, including the autopsy report from doctors. Bescom officials have been asked whether the power connection was legal and, if it is, whether the connection was of commercial or domestic nature. We’ll take further action based on the reports.”The hotel staff are being questioned and their statements are being recorded, the officer added. Both men injured in the incident — American tourist Mathew Desantis, 41, and hotel employee Rahul Tiwari, 28 — have been discharged from hospital after treatment.
