Congress staging drama in delimitation issue- Dayanidhi Maran

Chennai: DMK on Monday accused the Congress of staging drama in the delimitation issue by opposing the exercise in Tamil Nadu while adopting a different stand in other states.Referring to the remarks of Telangana CM Revanth Reddy that delimitation will shape Telangana with increased representation, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran questioned the silence of Congress in states that the party rules. “Why is the Congress staging a `no delimitation’ drama only in Tamil Nadu? Having deployed its proxy govt here to convene an MPs’ meeting, why has it remained silent in the four states it governs? And will it question Revanth Reddy, who has openly supported the delimitation exercise?” Maran asked. The TVK govt headed by CM C Joseph Vijay convened a meeting of TN MPs to discuss the delimitation issue in Chennai on Saturday. DMK boycotted the meeting calling it a “diversion” from Mekedatu issue. While the Congress attacked DMK for not participating in the meeting, DMK hit back at Congress. “Has the Congress party shifted from advocating fair delimitation to demanding `no delimitation’ only in Tamil Nadu, or is that now its position across the country?” Maran asked. The DMK MP also asked if `no delimitation’ was the stand of Congress why didn’t the party convene a similar meeting of MPs in the four states that Congress govern.“A party that cannot articulate a clear and consistent position on delimitation has no moral authority to preach to Tamil Nadu. What the Congress is indulging in here is nothing more than petty politics. The people of TN will not be taken in by the theatrics of a reels-driven party that functions as the Congress party’s proxy govt,” Maran said.
