Hinduja Group meets Yogi, unveils new UP investments worth over Rs 1,000 crore

Lucknow: Hinduja Group leadership met chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday and announced plans to expand operations in Uttar Pradesh across mobility, renewable energy and digital connectivity, including a proposed investment of more than Rs 1,000 crore in a pumped-storage project in Mirzapur.An official spokesperson said Sunil K Chadda, group president, corporate affairs, briefed chief minister on the group’s current work in the state and outlined proposed investments.In mobility, the group plans to double the production capacity of its Ashok Leyland plant in Lucknow from 2,500 to 5,000 vehicles a year within the next six to seven months. The facility was inaugurated in Jan 2026.On the renewable energy front, Hinduja Renewables has been allotted the Babura/Sukhnai pumped-storage project site in Mirzapur for study and implementation. The company estimates investment in the project at over Rs 1,000 crore.The group is also scaling up Project GANGA, its digital connectivity initiative launched in June. The first GANGA fibre network went live in Lambhua, Sultanpur, on Sept 29, with six customers connected.Hinduja Group’s footprint in UP also includes financial services, healthcare, education and CSR programmes. Its Road to School initiative covers 415 schools and more than 45,000 children across Gorakhpur, Aligarh and Lucknow. Chadda said UP remained central to the group’s growth plans.
