Hyderabad: A Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) woman conductor, Pravalika, suffered severe injuries to both legs after a woman passenger allegedly pushed her off a moving bus following a dispute over change for a ₹100 note in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Sunday. The incident occurred near Mittagudem in Aswapuram mandal when a Palle Velugu bus operated by the Manuguru depot was travelling from Manuguru to Bhadrachalam.According to Aswapuram inspector Ch Yellaiah, the passenger, Mounika, boarded the bus with her son and requested a half ticket for him. When Pravalika insisted on a full ticket, citing the boy’s age, an argument broke out. When Pravalika asked Mounika to collect the balance while getting off the bus, the passenger insisted on receiving it immediately, leading to a fresh argument. As the bus approached the Mittagudem stop, Mounika attempted to get off. Pravalika, who intended to take her to Aswapuram police station to lodge a complaint over the altercation, stopped her and asked the driver to move the bus ahead.During the ensuing altercation, Mounika allegedly pushed Pravalika from the bus doorway while the vehicle was moving. The conductor fell onto the road, and the bus’s rear wheels ran over her right leg, severely crushing it. She also sustained serious injuries to her left leg.Local residents and fellow passengers rushed to her aid and arranged for an ambulance. The injured conductor was initially taken to the Bhadrachalam area hospital in a 108 ambulance before being shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.Police took Mounika into custody. A case was registered based on a complaint lodged by the Manuguru depot manager, and an investigation is under way, Inspector Yellaiah said.
