Silchar: A youth injured in a motorcycle collision in Cachar district died at Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Monday.The deceased was identified as Bishu Dey (21), a resident of Narsingpur Natun Pally. Another injured youth, Maruf Talukdar (18), from Khaspur in the Bhaga Bazar area, remains under treatment.Police sources said the accident occurred on Sunday near Natun Bazar under Sonai police station when two motorcycles collided. Residents said one motorcycle was turning when another allegedly rammed into it, throwing both the riders onto the road.Both youths suffered serious injuries. Residents arranged an ambulance and shifted them to SMCH, where Bishu succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.Sources claimed that the rider of another motorcycle fled the scene after the collision. His identity and whereabouts are yet to be ascertained.A Sonai police team visited the site and began an investigation. Police have reportedly seized both motorcycles and are examining the circumstances leading to the accident.Bishu’s death left residents of Narsingpur Natun Pally mourning the loss.
