COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police on Monday night apprehended six juveniles who were among a group of 12 children in conflict with the law (CCL) who escaped from a govt observation home at Athur near Chengalpet on Sunday.The 12 teenagers escaped when a movie was being screened for the inmates of the home on Sunday evening. After escaping from the home, they intercepted motorists on the Chengalpet -Orakkattupettai Road, assaulted them and robbed them of two-wheelers and mobile phones. The group split up to evade capture. Six of them boarded a train and travelled to Coimbatore. After the 12 inmates escaped from the home, the Chengalpet police alerted all the police stations in the state. The city police received information about the children in conflict with the law reaching Coimbatore Junction railway station on Monday. The Race Course police rushed to the railway station and found them there. Six teenagers, including two who have murder charges against them, were apprehended.The apprehended juveniles were kept in safe custody overnight and were sent back to Chengalpet on Tuesday morning under tight police escort.
