Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the newly-built Kalyan Mandapam at Basharatpur on August 29.The Kalyan Mandapam, constructed by Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) using funds from CM Yogi Adityanath’s MLA development fund, will provide affordable venue for weddings and social functions for low and middle-income families.GDA vice-chairman Abhinav Gopal said the Kalyan Mandapam has been developed on a 2,593-square-metre plot in ward-80 of Rapti Nagar at a cost of Rs 3.10 crore. Designed with modern amenities and contemporary architecture, the two-storey complex is equipped to host a variety of social and cultural events.The ground floor houses a hall with a seating capacity of 225 people, along with a kitchen, storeroom, office, changing rooms and separate toilets for men and women. The first floor includes another hall and six rooms with attached toilets and dressing facilities.The campus also features a decorative fountain, landscaped lawns and ample parking space with interlocking tiled surfaces. Officials said the venue will offer a cost-effective option for weddings, engagement ceremonies, mundan functions and other community events.With addition of Basharatpur facility, the city’s network of Kalyan Mandapams continues to expand. Six such venues have already been inaugurated by the CM in areas, including Khorabar, Surajkund, Manbela, Tola Piru Shahid, Bichhia Jungle Tulsiram and Jungle Beni Madhav.Officials said the initiative aims to make modern event infrastructure accessible to economically weaker sections at affordable rates.
