Varanasi: With the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections on the horizon, the BJP is set to kickstart its organisational preparations with a two-day joint training camp for 266 assembly in-charges and vistaraks from the Kashi and Gorakhpur regions in Varanasi from Wednesday. BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh, national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in charge Vinod Tawde, and state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh will lead the exercise, focusing on strengthening the party’s organisational machinery and election preparedness.Although chief minister Yogi Adityanath will also be in the city to address a public meeting on Wednesday and is scheduled to leave on Thursday morning, uncertainty persists over whether he will attend the inaugural session of the proposed training camp, as the timings of the two events coincide.BJP Kashi region president Ashok Chaurasia said the inaugural session of the training camp and the chief minister’s public meeting were scheduled at almost the same time. Against this backdrop, local office-bearers and leaders were awaiting the finalisation of CM Yogi’s two-day visit, beginning late Wednesday afternoon, as well as a decision by senior leaders on whether he would participate in the proposed camp.Chaurasia said all preparations for the training camp at Chaudhary Lawn in Sundarpur have been completed. A total of 266 office-bearers will participate in the camp, including 142 representatives from 71 assembly constituencies in the Kashi region and 124 from 62 constituencies in the Gorakhpur region.During six sessions on different organisational and election-related themes, BL Santhosh, Vinod Tawde and Dharampal Singh will impart guidance on strengthening booth-to-Assembly-level coordination, increasing organisational activities and streamlining preparations for the upcoming election. The sessions will continue until Thursday night.
