CM visits AIIMS centre, assures families of all help

New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta Tuesday visited AIIMS Trauma Centre and met families of the students injured in the Satya Niketan building collapse, assuring them of all possible assistance and directing doctors to provide the best treatment.Delhi govt has expedited safety checks of PG hostels across the city following the incident, said CM’s office. Gupta said a building adjacent to the collapsed structure had been declared unsafe and would be demolished soon.CM sought details from AIIMS doctors about the condition of the injured students and their treatment. She said govt would bear the full cost of treatment and assured families that there would be no shortcoming in medical care. Strict action will be taken against those found responsible on the basis of the investigation, she assured the families.Gupta directed Municipal Corporation of Delhi to inspect all PG hostels under its jurisdiction, including their building safety, requisite permissions, fire safety NOCs, structural stability certificates and other prescribed standards. Senior zonal officials will oversee the exercise.Gupta also directed the demolition of dilapidated buildings near the site and ordered that construction work in the area be stopped until safety was ensured.
