Bicholim: Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that 50,000 women and girls have undergone free health checkup in Goa under govt’s ‘Check by Doctor’ and ‘Health with Ayurveda’ initiatives. He said that govt has been receiving an overwhelming response . “The objective of the ‘Health with Ayurveda’ initiative is not only to provide treatment but also to encourage people to adopt a natural and healthy lifestyle”, said the CM.Sawant pointed out that many women remain occupied with household responsibilities and often neglect their own health, resulting in delayed diagnosis of serious illnesses. He stated that early diagnosis at the primary stage is extremely important before any illness becomes severe. He added that in nearly 80% cases people develop fear without consulting doctors, leading them to believe they are ill. Regular health check-ups and timely treatment can prevent diseases from occurring.Sawant also expressed concern over the rising cases of diabetes, blood pressure, kidney disorders, and dialysis. To prevent the surge in such diseases, Govt is focusing on primary-level health screening and public awareness campaigns, he added.Sawant appealed to all citizens of the state to take advantage of the free health camps being organised until June 5. He urged more women to undergo health check-ups. The CM also clarified that free medicines and treatment assistance up to Rs 20,000 are being provided under the initiative.
