CM to lead Tiranga Yatra across city today

Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will lead a Tiranga Yatra in Gorakhpur on Monday and dedicate a newly widened road project worth Rs 69.58 crore to the public on Tuesday.The Tiranga Yatra, organised under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, will begin from the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation premises after the chief minister pays floral tributes to Rani Lakshmibai’s statue. The procession will pass through Town Hall, Golghar, Ganesh Chowk, Kali Mandir and Yatayat Tiraha, before concluding at Maharana Pratap’s statue near Railway Station Chowk. Through the yatra, the CM will appeal to citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes ahead of Independence Day. State govt has set a target of displaying the tricolour at 5 crore households this year.On Tuesday morning, the CM will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of the nearly 2-km road connecting the Gorakhpur-Sonauli highway to Madhopur Bandha via Green City and Pataniya. Executed by PWD at a cost of Rs 69.58 crore, the project includes roadside drainage infrastructure to improve water disposal.Officials said the upgraded road will ease traffic movement for residents of Green City and adjoining colonies while providing an alternative route to Madhopur Bandha. The project is being seen as another addition to Gorakhpur’s expanding road connectivity network.
