CM cuts short Aligarh visit, meets victims’ kin in Lucknow

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cut short his visit to Aligarh after receiving the news of the fire tragedy in Lucknow and returned to the state capital. He proceeded directly to the site of the fire incident in Aliganj. The CM inspected the building damaged by the blaze and also went to the rooftop of a nearby building to assess the situation firsthand. He obtained a detailed briefing on the incident from govt and administrative officials and directed that strict action be taken against those responsible.Expressing deep grief over the deaths, the CM announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured.From the incident site, the CM went directly to KGMU, where he met the injured and sought detailed information about the cause of the fire and the sequence of events.Vice-chancellor Prof Sonia Nityanand briefed the CM in detail about the treatment being provided to the injured.During his visit to KGMU, Yogi also met the families of those who lost their lives in the incident. Expressing his condolences, he offered comfort and support to the bereaved families and shared in their grief. He stated that while no one can bring back the lives that have been lost, he assured them that those responsible for the tragedy would not be spared under any circumstances. He reiterated that the government stands firmly with the affected families.The CM was at an event in Aligarh where he was scheduled to inaugurate development projects when he was informed about the tragedy. Before leaving the stage, he addressed the gathering and said: “I had intended to stay here longer. However, I have just received information that an accident has occurred in Lucknow and some children have been affected by a fire incident. Tragically, some children have lost their lives. The administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations. Due to this unfortunate incident, I must return to Lucknow immediately.”Yogi said the incident would be investigated thoroughly and the strictest possible action would be taken against those found responsible for it.The CM expressed his deepest condolences to the families which had lost their children and loved ones in the tragedy. In a message on ‘X’, he wrote: “The loss of lives in the fire accident in Lucknow is extremely tragic and heart-rending. My condolences are with the bereaved families. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant peace to the departed souls and a speedy recovery to those injured.”
