Times News NetworkNew Delhi: Delhi govt will set up collection centres where people will be able to deposit broken or damaged idols of deities to ensure their respectful disposal, chief minister Rekha Gupta said on Tuesday.People often leave damaged idols under trees, in public spaces like parks and on the roadside. Some are thrown into rivers, she said, while seeking feedback from people regarding locations for the proposed collection centres. “We’re launching the centres to respectfully recycle our cherished idols, a heartfelt step toward a cleaner, culturally mindful Viksit Delhi,” the chief minister’s post on X said.Gupta added that public participation strengthens any initiative and urged people to share their ideas.The idols will be recycled and converted into something of utility, Gupta said.
